Happy Hexagons

Hexagons are so popular in papercrafting, so I wanted to use my Unity hexagons again.  This time I paired them with a new birthday stamp from my kit of the month that I haven't had a chance to use yet.  I wanted to give the hexagons some movement, so I made some floating away from the group.  I used these colors in the Play Date Cafe Challenge #142.
I painted the hexagons with my Twinkling H2O's, and then splashed some paint across the background paper with my wet brush.  These are great summer colors!

For the Girls

I made this tag a while ago, and realized I had not posted it.  I love the dress stamp, and found the perfect size dress forms from Gecko Galz to place it on.   The dress is stamped on patterned paper and cut out to fit over the form.  I think the contrast of the neutral color forms and the bright red dress work together.  I thought this was a great message for girls (and women), just "Be Yourself".  If it makes you happy to wear a red dress, then wear it!

My Favorite Songbird

If you have been following my blog for a while, you probably know that I love birds, and have many bird related stamps.  When I saw the CASE-study 100th challenge, and it was all bird cards, I knew I had to join in the fun.  This sweet pair of birds in their nest is from Memory Box, and is great for many different occasions.  I painted them with my Twinkling H2O's to resemble bluebirds, and added a little bling on the branches, and faux stitching on the edges of the card front.  I hand drew the stitching, because I had a little "incident"  with my sewing machine several years ago, and smoke poured it, and now I am reluctant to use it!  I felt the bottom needed a little something, so I added some music, since they are "song birds".  Here's a close up of the birds.

Tea Time

This cute little teacup stamp from TPC studio is paired with a sentiment from Stampin" Up to make a fun card for a tea lover.  The colors came from the Embellish Magazine's Tea Party Color Trend Challenge photo.  I used the "Less is More" One Layer Challenge of "Threes", including 3 images, 2 sets of 3 pearls, and made 3 score lines at the top and bottom.  And since it's teacups, I'm posting in Share Your Cup Thursday.
I love tea, that's all I drink, and I can think of some friends who would really like this card.  Thanks for stopping by!

Beach Vacation

Had fun making this tag for Tag Tuesday!  This bathing beauty is getting ready to take a dip, and she uses the same method I do to get in the water, getting in gradually, trying to avoid the waves.  No diving in for us!  I love the vivid colors on her bathing suit.  Had to make this one about a beach vacation, because that's where we are headed soon, to Turks and Caicos, to swim in that beautiful turquoise water.  Can't wait!

The Beach Vacation stamp and the vintage graphic are both from TJ Designs.

This is going in the Simon Says Stamp and Show Layers Challenge, and Twinkle, Twinkle, The Color of Summer- Wild and Reckless Sherbert.

Thanks for stopping by, and Thanks to all of my new followers, so happy to have you!

Happy Blue Bird

We have some bluebirds nesting in one of our bird boxes and I love to see them flying back and forth as they catch insects to feed the chicks.  This card was inspired by all the bird activity this week.  It's a big image to fit on a card with other things, but I found this green newsprint Bo Bunny paper that had an image of a flower made out of type, so I  accented that by making a flower free hand and putting it over the print image.  A little washi tape and twine finshed it off.  This card makes me happy!

It's going in The Moxie Fab World Love Card Challenge, Lawnscaping Challenge: Use Dimension, CAS-ual Friday: Text Me, and Twinkle, Twinkle The Colors of Summer -Wild and Reckless Sherbert.

Pink Poppies

I love poppies,  so when I saw the Tuesday Trigger over at the Moxie Fab World,  I knew which stamp I wanted to use.   I had gotten this La Blanche stamp several years ago because I loved the intricate engraved look of the flowers.  I love pink poppies, and when I first planted my garden years ago, I planted what I thought were a soft pink poppy (according to the plant tag).  Imagine my suprise when they bloomed an electric orange!  I am still ripping those things out!  My friend takes them, because she loves the color, and they do look striking by her house, they are just not the plants for me.  I do have some pink ones, and the tissue paper like petals are just lovely.  Here are some photos from my garden-

I love the light blue iris behind the poppies.

This is the Tuesday Trigger Photo: A Plate of Pretty Poppies.  And now you know why I made mine pink instead of orange.
This is also going in the Hello Card category over at the Moxie Fab World, and CAS-ual Friday: Text Me., and My Mojo Monthly: Your Style.

By the Sea Tag

I wanted to share a tag I made for Tag Tuesday this week, where the theme is "Seaside".  In the vintage photo I used, this elegant lady was sitting on a rock at at the beach, but I wanted to give her something more exotic to sit on, so I stamped a lovely shell for her.  The tag background was made from blue patterned paper, and has a border-type stamp near the top.  I found some lacy vintage gold ribbon to put behind her to give the appearance of waves, and gave her a little sparkle on her umbrella with some stickles.  There is a spritz of Smooch Spritz Spray on the shell area to give it a little more dimension.  I think she is dreaming about swimming in the turquoise blue water of the Caribbean (oh no, wait, that is me dreaming about that!).

Lots of blogs are having tag challenges, so she is going to get around!  Check them out, there are some great tags to see.

Love Never Fails

This card, in just black and white, is a departure for me from my usual style.  The challenge over at Less is More is to make a CAS card inspired by their blog banner, which looks like this-
I thought the jar of roses looked very similar to the roses at the top of the banner, and it reminds me of an old fashioned etching.  The size and style of the font on the "Love" sentiment is also much like the font on the banner, so I combined both these stamps from my June Unity Kit of the Month.

I feel like I need to add some color to those luxurious roses, so you will be seeing this flower stamp again when I try it out with some watercolors!   I am also entering this in the Moxie Fab World Love Card Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by.

Count Your Blessings

This card was made with Bo Bunny Paper for the Skipping Stones Sketch Challenge #134.  I love  the sketch, and found some cardstock designs that were exactly the perfect shape.  Bo Bunny has such great paper!

I can "count my blessings" today- I just saw a baby chickadee fledge from the bird house next to my porch!  We've been watching all the activity as the parents fly back and forth feeding the babies, and I was wondering if I would know when they were ready to leave the nest.  As I was working on my computer, I could hear the parents calling "phoebe" over and over.  When I looked at the bird box, a chick was looking out of the hole and chirping back.  This went on for several minutes, then the baby flew out and landed on a branch close by.  A little while later the adult bird came over and fed it a worm.  This made my day!
 Have a great day!

Dragonflies

The theme over at Tag Tuesday is "Along the Riverbank", and I wanted to share the tag I posted there.
I chose dragonflies to decorate my tag this week.  While I don't have  a river close to my house, I do live across from a pond, and several days over the summer there are hundreds of dragonflies that fly over the fields next to the pond all at the same time.  It is fascinating to see so many darting across the tall grass, their wings sparkling in the sunshine.

The stamp is from Magenta, and I used watercolor pencils to color the background, and some Stickles to give the wings some glimmer.

Crazy 4 Challenges, C4C143, is having a tag challenge this week.  You can also see more tags at Tag Tuesday.
